THERMOSTATS
By far the sure best value a consumer can do for their vehicle
is a thermostat. Thermostats should be replaced each year.
When thermostats go bad they can either "freeze"
in the open position causing your car to not have proper heat
or, more dangerously, in the closed position, causing your
car to overheat which can quickly cause substantial damage
with today's engines with aluminum parts. Waiting until the
thermostat goes bad is a mistake. Usually when it goes bad
it causes damage.
USUAL COST TO
INSTALL THERMOSTAT: $74.95
GAS FILTERS
Gas filters used to be easy to replace. Today they're almost
always under the vehicle, causing them to get rusty and harder
to get off. That's the reason they're not often changed. Not
changing a gas filter will make a fuel pump work harder, causing
premature failure. Fuel pumps can cost up to $500.00.
USUAL COST TO
REPLACE GAS FILTER: $50.00
BRAKE FLUID DRAIN AND FILL
Especially on antilock brake systems (ABS). The brake fluid
picks up contamination including moisture. This contamination
can damage the sensors and/or ABS main unit. Replacement of
the main unit is in excess of $1,000.00.
USUAL COST OF
BRAKE FLUID DRAIN AND FILL: $69.95
